Breast uplift (Mastopexy)

Pregnancies, breastfeeding and gravity are three factors which cause ptosis (the fact that breasts start sagging). Mastopexy neither reduces nor increases the volume breasts but changes the location of the glandular tissue and the mammary areola.

Different techniques exist, but the principle is that the higher the areola has to be lifted, the larger the scars. The different solutions have to be discussed with your Surgeon before the operation.

The operation can be combined with a breast enlargement if the breasts have lost too much volume.
In this case, the introduction of an implant makes it possible to recover both the shape, firmness and appearance of breasts.
The operation is performed under a general anaesthetic and normally requires an overnight stay in hospital. Not much pain is involved. A special bra has to be worn night and day for one month. The patient can normally go back to work one to two weeks after the operation.
The shape only becomes definitive three months after the operation.

The scars fade after one year and their final appearance will depend on the quality of the patient's skin.
